When to do scapular setting?

I am a newly graduated physiotherapist. For a stroke patient with upper limb weakness, should we ask patient to perform scapular set before each arm movement/arm exercise?

Answer There isn't necessarily a right or wrong answer to your question because it depends on the stroke patient. You can go through various scapular mobilizations with some patients and then move on to range of motion exercises. On the other hand, there will be patients that have excessive tone or more involvement and would benefit from doing scapular mobilization prior to each set of exercises.
